The group was formed through The Long Run, a project that brings refugees, asylum seekers and all Munich men together to music, art and marathon runs. In this short film, we hear from members of The Long Run, why they sing and what keeps them going, and how important spaces for community and healing are in the face of bureaucracy, racism, and loneliness. The Long Run supports refugees to build their own strength in the long term, because navigating the German asylum system and the rebuilding of their homeland in Bavaria is nothing short of a marathon – but we can side by side la oven . “Music keeps body and soul together,” says Papa Afrika, musician and member of Munich band Vue Belle. The group formed through The Long Run, a project that brings refugees, asylum seekers, and all residents of Munich together for music, arts, and marathon running.
